I decided on a scheme of blues/greens, teal and mauve.
First step was to cut them all into strips, sew them together, cut them into more strips, sew together. When I piece, I love adding thins slivers of gold to just lift it that little bit.
Here is the finished quilt top. It is in 2 pieces to try and ease the quilting. I am going to try out Norma Schlager's 'Divide and Conquer' method of quilting the two halves and then joining them together with a seam.
The piecing is very random. I do wish I had added more gold. I love the little gold strip structures that emerge.
Here's a closer look at the top half of the quilt. I said the piecing was random, but of course it is not an accident that there are lots of nice strips to fill with my FMQ continuous line designs!!

fun! and will you quilt it with a gold thread?
ReplyDeleteYou know I love this piece because I've commented on it before. Those little slivers of gold and silver are the perfect touch. Good luck with the quilting and thanks for the shout-out.
ReplyDeleteI love what you're doing here; enjoy the quilting (I'm sure you will!).
ReplyDeleteNice colours. Looks like a reat fun too!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are so pleasing and restful, yet there is much to attend to in your quilt. I look forward to the quilting treatment you will give it.
ReplyDeletelove it! The gold is just a perfect added touch.
ReplyDeleteHilary, I love the soft palette. The gold adds a nice spark!
ReplyDeleteThe colours are gorgeous. I think you have put just the right amount of gold, in it. I can't wait to see how it looks after you've quilted it.
ReplyDeleteHilary, I may have fixed the "no reply" problem!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are nice, but what I love most is that I know this will be totally transformed once you start your magic stitching! Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you put together the fabric - love your work. Thanks for inspiration - you make great things :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love your approach of sewing and cutting and sewing again. I haven't heard of the divide and conquer method, but it sounds like a pretty great idea.
