Leaf Project

I love colour but I also love the subtlety of working in neutral colours, whites, creams, soft coffees with accents of darker beige/browns.

Leaf Project

I wanted to do a project that used texture, both from manipulation and free motion zig-zag quilting. This formed the basis for the leaves - where would quilters be without leaves?. Each leaf is a different shape. The idea of the background free motion quilting was to give texture, but without distracting from the bolder texture of the leaf. As each leaf is different, so is the  background fmq.

  2. Many thanks for your kind words Lyndell. I do love texture and free motion quilting - and leaves work so well in all art forms - including your wonderful eco-leaf prints. It was fun to do them, although I did have a moment when I had finished making the fabric for the leaves when I thought - do I really want to cut this up? I'm glad I did.

  4. Ooooo! I'm just itching to get at dyeing and playing with shapes! You have inspired me with your examples. The leaves are so soft and beautiful (wish I could touch them). So glad I came to visit from Lori's blog! Thank you, Hillary!
