New Year, New Diary Cover

I noticed that Quiltshopgal - formally Sewcalgal - has started a new weekly linky party which she has named CreativeGoodness. The idea is that ever month has a suggested colour and a theme.

Aptly enough, the theme for January is 'New' with colours of winter white and blues. By coincidence, my new diary cover is in just that colour scheme. All the quilting is done in different shades of blues.


I'm afraid I have not caught up with the digital age so still rely on an A5 diary. Every year I make a cover for the new year.



Although they are removable, I tend to leave the cover on and if I am looking for an old diary, I can tell which year they are by the cover.


The lining is dyed to match the thread colour.

I must have been in a similar mood last year, because the out going diary cover is also in blues.

    Love your journal covers. I just did a bunch for my fellow board members. Being non quilter, they were mightily impressed! Which is always fun for me.

    I love both your covers! Just beautiful! I have just started experimenting beyond straight line quilting by making some pot holders. I will have to try your loopy designs....did you mark your fabrics first? Thanks for posting!

    Ohhh, I'm so inspired! I started FMQ about a year ago, and this is Gorgeous!! I love wild, intensive pattern like you've done. And to boot, I have an order of Procion dyes and fabric coming next week. You have an excited new follower. Thank you for posting on crazy mom quilts so I could find you! Wow!

    I thought I loved the first one and then I saw the second one. I'm glad that I don't have to choose a favorite. They are both spectacular! What a great gift this would make.

    Wow, I love these! What a great idea for a little FMQ. Yours, as always, is just so rich and beautiful. Last year's reminds me of topographical maps (with added pebbling). Lovely.

    Shocking that you still use a print diary! I don't know how you do it, but your diary is certainly beautiful. Love the quilting, of course, and the dyed fabric to match the thread. A work of art for the whole year.
