A bit of colour and something a bit different
When I decided to do my project of 101 free motion quilted cameos, I chose indigo blue partly because white stitching shows up well on that colour and partly to create a unified body of work. The downside of this, which I had not thought of, was that the blog colour wise begins to look all the same.
So I thought I would put in a small experimental piece which started off yellow. Once stitched, I then went over the quilting with Markal paintsticks - in blue and silver. So yes, we are still with blues, but it does look a bit different!
I'm linking the blog to nina maria's 'Off the wall Friday'. Go and have look to see what others are doing.

Wonderful piece!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ineke. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteI really like the blues and yellows together. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. I thing the peacock blue works really well. And a good thing is that you can have a go with a different colour scheme on the other side!
DeleteI love what you did with the colour on this piece and your quilting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm always looking for new ideas for fmq so I'm really enjoying your cameo designs.
Thanks for sharing.
Fmq is my passion and I love trying out new ideas. Some quilts really do push fmq into the forground, but it is so often feathers or stippling or pebbles - all of which are great, but I do love trying to think up something different.
DeleteMy colors for sure!!!! Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the colours Robbie, thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.

I think the colours you have here are beautiful - and I love the quilting and the way you have painted over the fabric! Something I have yet to try.
ReplyDeleteHope you do try it Joan. I was really surprised - and pleased - how it brought out the quilting when I tried.
